Chris Lewis Switched back to Loop from 670g – Artificial Pancreas #Nightscout

Posted on September 16, 2018 by admincml

Hello folks,

The 670g is not for me… I gave it a 3-month run before switching back to Loop. Read more about Loop here: https://loopkit.github.io/loopdocs/

My experience and opinion: The 670g guardian CGM sensor was not even close to the Dexcom G5 in accuracy, ease of use, and comfort. The 670g pump is amazing, as a pump in manual mode, but in AutoMode this pump is like a needy ex-girlfriend who is in constant need of attention and always need to make sure you’re ok. I prefer the size of the 722 paradigm pump better and the Artificial Pancreas functions in Loop app. Loop just handles business based off your Dexcom glucose reading and the algorithm adjusted perfectly. My A1C got worse vs Loop A1C. I’ve been back on Loop for 6 months and the 670g is now my backup pump.

Racing Update: The CDVIDEOWEB team had to take some time off this year Racing and running Time Attack as the family, work and overall life seem to take priority. Racing is very expensive and sometimes you have to shovel funds in a different direction. That’s what’s happening in 2018 for CDVIDEOWEB. On the Brightside, the CDVIDEOWEB Porsche 911 is going into the shop (Precision Motion) to get a full tech inspection, tune-up,  and some maintenance done. We might be joining Porsche Club running Time Attack at Chuckwalla Raceway in October 2018.

Finger’s crossed.

2018 is a new year for Chris Lewis #NightscoutforMedtronic and the 670g AutoMode

Posted on January 27, 2018 by admincml

Well Folks,

I’ve decided to switch to the Medtronic 670g after running Loop. Loop is the DIY artificial pancreas system I used last year staring in March, and throughout the year. This system has been amazing to my diabetes and over all health. The creators of Loop, Riley Link and Nightscout have done amazing work for the T1D community.

We will be broadcasting LIVE from the Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, California, where people take their racing seriously.

POC March 2017 Post Race Update Buttonwillow Raceway Artificial Pancreas

Posted on March 13, 2017 by admincml

Overall a very successful race weekend! I qualified 10th for the race, finished 8th overall, and was first place in my class.

The video below is my Final Lap where I shave 3 seconds off my previous lap, and set the Track Record!

Thank you to all who donated to my cause. I not only set the Guinness Book World Record as the first type 1 diabetic to race with a closed loop artificial pancreas… but it looks like I may have set the track record for my class, too. 🏁

The artificial pancreas is designed to oversee and adjust insulin delivery as needed. It uses a platform that features a reconfigured smartphone running advanced algorithms that is linked wirelessly to a blood-sugar monitor and an insulin pump that the patient wears, as well as a remote-monitoring site. #WeAreNotWaiting

I was asked to be a guest Speaker for the Nightscout Foundation at Children with Diabetes – Focus on Technology event in Anahiem, CA.

Nightscout has helped my life tremendously by allowing me to view my blood sugar levels on a pebble smart watch.

When I race it’s very critical to keep an eye on you BG levels without having to take you eyes or hands off the wheel.
